Temple College Preparatory School Curriculum

Temple College Preparatory School uses a curriculum based on the Florida Department of Education Sunshine State Standards. TCP’s curriculum has been approved by the Florida League of Christian Schools and the International League of Christian Schools. The below curriculum information describes standard courses for kindergarten through twelfth grade. Course descriptions include Sunshine State Standards benchmarks, class goals and assessment methods. Temple College Preparatory School standard school year consists of four nine-week terms (periods).

Below, parents and guardians can select the English or Mathematics Florida B.E.S.T. Standard to understand the educational goals for their student at each grade level. TCP integrates Title I and ESE (IDEA) daily in-school tutoring services with it’s curriculum to ensure each student has an opportunity to learn and grow no matter their academic status.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

TCP’s Elementary and Middle School curriculum educates each student in the basic academic subjects and prepares them for future academic success. TCP uses a variety of best practice teaching methods to interact, educate, and challenge early learners. Using this method teachers and students will discover and understand each student’s interests, strengths, and weaknesses early in their academic career.

Basic 8th Grade Courses

HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM

9th – 12th Grades: Standard Diploma (24 Credits) GPA Graduation Requirement:A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for graduation. *Students are encouraged to maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher if their goal is to attend a local, state and national college. High school students are required to complete the designed number of credits for the following core courses: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Performing Arts, Physical Education and elective credits.

Accelerated Education Program

  • Dual Enrollment programs are available through Florida State College at Jacksonville.
  • Students may enroll in the Florida Virtual School online program.
  • Students may enroll in TCP iCan Academy to obtain accelerated course credits.

The below are the 9th through 12th grade core classes and electives that are required by the Florida Department of Education for a standard 24 credit high school diploma. Students have a variety of STEAM courses that can be used as electives each year. STEAM electives consist of the following courses: Computer Technology I, Computer Technology II, Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Chorus, Bible History, Art/Drawing, Graphic Design, Stage Production Technology, Theater/Drama and Dance. STEAM electives are subject to instructor availability.
