Private schools may be expensive for some parents. The State of Florida Department of Education scholarships are a way that student tuition's can be paid by an organization on behalf of the parent and student. Scholarships are accepted by the Temple College Preparatory for all students. The Family Empowerment Scholarship for students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA) is for students with learning disabilities, handicapped, Individual Education Program (IEP) or Special Needs. Below is a brief summary of each state approved scholarship program with a link to their website.

Our staff is available to assist you with the enrollment process. Students can enroll in most scholarship programs anytime throughout the school year. The

The Family Empowerment Scholarship

The Family Empowerment Scholarship for students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA) Program (formerly known as the John McKay Scholarship) is statewide. The scholarships are available for eligible students with disabilities to attend an eligible public or private school of their choice. Students with disabilities include K-12 students who are documented as having a mental handicap, a physical impairment; and a specific learning disability. Any parent of a public school student with a disability who has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) and who is dissatisfied with the student's progress may receive a FES-UA Scholarship if the student meets the program's requirements. In order to be eligible for the FES-UA Program a student must have an Individual Education Plan (IEP).

There are also scholarships for struggling readers and victims of bullying.

Florida Tax Credit Scholarship - (Step Up For Students*)

The Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program (FTC) was established in 2001 to provide an income tax credit for corporations that contribute money to nonprofit Scholarship-Funding Organizations (SFOs) that award scholarships to students from families with limited financial resources. The purpose of the tax credit is to:

  • Encourage private, voluntary contributions to nonprofit SFOs;
  • Expand education opportunities for children from families that have limited financial resources; and
  • Enable children to achieve a greater level of excellence in their education.

The FTC scholarship is income based. A student is eligible for a scholarship from a nonprofit SFO through this program, if the student qualifies for free or reduced-price school lunches under the National School Lunch Act. For more information visit the website at www.stepupforstudents.org and click on the Scholarships For Private School (FTC/FES-EO) option.
